After securing Purple Flag status for its evening and night-time economy at the beginning of the year, Paisley’s Purple Flag has caught wind of some much-needed student engagement within the town.
As only the third Scottish destination to be awarded the accreditation, the Purple Flag has prompted the creation of a Student Discount Card that aims to establish stronger links between students and local Paisley town centre businesses.
The card was released for Fresher’s week and promoted at The University of the West of Scotland Student Hub last month.
Eileen Heron, Project Leader at Paisley First said: “A survey was conducted with the students at the University promotion relating to their knowledge of the Purple Flag and their opinions about the discount card.
“They were overwhelmingly in favour of the introduction of the card.”
The Purple Flag Student Discount Card is completely free, with no need to apply, and offers a wide range of discounts when shopping and dining at a variety of local Paisley participants.
More than 60 Paisley First BID businesses have signed up including many popular restaurants, cafes, pubs, hair and beauty salons, and music venues, and there are plans to extend the list in 2018.
Some of the best offers include 20% student discount offer on all food & drink at De Beers 59 High Street, and Hamishes Hoose, 45 High Street, already offer a BYGOF on all main meals, but have added a new student offer of Pint and Pasta Deal for £5 (Sun-Thurs 3-9pm).
The benefits can be found in full here.
Participants can also be spotted by Purple Flag Stickers displayed in their front windows.
