Sprits were high at Silverburn’s circus themed shopping event

Silverburn Shopping centre delighted shoppers when it hosted a circus-themed evening of exclusive offers and entertainment last night with its Shopping Affair event that went on from 5pm to 9pm on 24th of May.

The circus theme has been popularised recently by the success of the box office hit ‘the Greatest Showman’ – a film about the circus owner and father of show business, P.T. Barnum.

It is no wonder why shopping centres and other business will take the opportunity to get into the circus theme to try and snatch some of that success. As according to the the greatest showman has ranked 7th place in highest gross earnings of 2018. The movie has created revenue over $124,959,634, thus, it is no surprise that the circus theme has spiked in popularity.

On the a circus themed evening took place at Glasgow’s Silverburn shopping centre, the event lasted four hours, during which time many people flocked to the centre to take advantage of the fantastic offers and discounts.

The amazing offers on offer  ranged from 20% off at Remus Uomo to 20% off at Monsoon and Accessorize. Body Shop, Cineworld, Molton Brown also giving out discounts, as well as deals from 30% off the bill at Bella Italia, a free portion of chips at Handmade Burger and 10% off at Krispy Kreme.

The event was hosted, as circus events often are, by a ring leader, who doubled up as one of the acts by juggling. The main event however, was a hula Hoopis from Berlin. She performed and taught children a few quick tricks.

Jessie Rose is a hula hoop artist who travelled all the way from Berlin, dazzles crowd while performing to songs from ‘the Greatest Showman’ soundtrack and able to  handle several hoops at once in a performance filled with a variety of tricks to stun her audience with her ‘Orfelia’ routine.

In an interview with a regular and local shopper I asked how she felt about the event as a whole.

She said: “It was bizarre but it was quite cool, it’s something that you don’t normally see every day.”

When asked about why the event was event was occurring in her opinion

she said: “I think it’s interactive, reaching out to their audience.”

This has been the case, as a new audience has been created, (pardon the pun) since Silverburn added their Cineworld extension in 2015.

The first 150 people that turned up to the special event received a free goodie bag with lip balms, tubs of cakes etc. included in the tote bags. The staff heavily promoted their new app. Which can be downloaded from the app store called the PLUS app to access more great offers.
