The Pattern, the publication created by second year Glasgow Clyde College journalism students has won the Scottish Student Journalism Award for Student Publication of the Year 2018.
The publication, which was a community magazine for Paisley, focused on the culture and history of the town just outside of Glasgow and has received praise from all corners of the Scottish journalism industry.
Hannah Gunn, who was the editor for the publication said: “It was great to win, the whole class worked really hard and it was difficult at times to put it together so it felt really good when it all came together and I think we all deserved it.”
As a result of her dedication to creating the magazine, Hannah has now obtained a job for the drinks company, Flavourly, in which she will be designing, contributing and sourcing content for their magazine.
She puts this achievement down to her work on The Pattern: “It’s basically the same as The Pattern, it’s all the same work. So the magazine has really helped me get that job. I think that’s the reason why I got it because I was the editor.”
The first year publication, the Clyde Insider from Glasgow Clyde College was also commended so only time will tell if the college will scoop up the award again next year.
