A restaurant in Paisley will offer a free meal on Christmas Day for people who need it.

Malatso Café in Paisley will be open on Christmas to provide food and company for those who spend the festivities alone.

They said:

“Christmas Day can be a very hard time of year for some, especially if you are on your own or the expense is just too much.

“This is why we are opening on Christmas day to provide a free meal and some company for anyone who needs it.”

They will offer 3 courses from their menu plus cakes, mince pies and drinks.

They will give out little presents to their guests, and they are accepting donations for both gifts and food.

On their Facebook page, they wrote:

“We will be doing our usual food bags for people to take away so if you want to donate goods then please donate non-perishable food NO fresh or frozen food, we won’t use it and we have no space to store it.”

They have also set up a crowdfunding page where people can donate money online.

In two days, over 30 people have already answered the call. So far, they have raised £445, which gets them almost halfway through their goal of £1,000.

Any leftovers from the day, food or items, will go to charities. Last year they donated any toys left to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

You can donate to the fundraising here. Find them on Facebook @malatso.
